End of School Party

ECAP Academy (Katherine's school) had a pool party to celebrate the end of school. Joey & Katherine had a blast playing for several hours.

River Festival

We took the kids to the River Festival to see Goldilocks and the Three Bears. The cast let us take pictures with them after the show.



Joey begged to ride in the cars, but starting crying as soon as we put in him. He cried through the entire ride.

Mother's Day

We had a fun Mother's Day. We spent most of the day at my (Angie) mom's house. We did some fishing and playing Wii.

Four generations...

Joey caught a fish. He brought it in all by himself. Once the fish was on the dock, he wasn't interested in touching it.

Katherine Starts Soccer

Katherine has started playing her first team sport - soccer. It's through our church; a program called Upword Soccer. Her grandpa is the coach of her team. They're the Chicklets.

Invention Convention

Katherine's school had their Invention Convention at Exploration Place this week. Each child came up with an invention along with a poster board showing the process of inventing it. During school, we took the kids there to talk to Mark Bogner (from channel 3). He also did the judging.

We went back in the evening for a show from the Mad Scientist, cake, and prizes.

It was a struggle to get Katherine interested in coming up with an invention. We came up with something, but it didn't place in the top 3. She has said that she'll try harder next year.

Here is her invention. She wanted to solve the problem that she can't find her soap under all of her toys in the bathtub. We came up with a way to make the bar of soap float and still be able to use it. It took her a couple of hours to write the poster.



This is the Mad Scientist letting Katherine feel the "smoke" from the dry ice. She showed the kids some really neat things. She comes to the school a couple times a month to teach them science.


I'm really amazed at this school. Katherine has had some awesome opportunities here. She really fits in and gets along well with the kids. Jon and I have be really surprised to see how different she acts with her classmates. At home, she's loud and a little crazy, but with her class, she's calm. When we walked back to the education room at EP, one little boy (CJ) ran up to her, grabbed her hand and held it all the way to the room. I thought it was adorable.

This Tuesday, they are planting some plants and trees at WSU for Earth Day (Jon is supplying the plants and trees), and Thursday they are going back to Exploration Place.

We have enrolled her there for next year for Kindergarten. She'll go 5 days a week from 8:30-3:30.

Happy Birthday, Jon!

Jon's birthday was April 9. He had several days to celebrate.

On Sunday, we had a birthday lunch with cake and ice cream.

Katherine wrote on the cake and Joseph put on the sprinkles.
