Family Announcement

We will be adding another family member in December. This time, it's not a pet, but an actual baby:) Although sometimes I wonder if we're crazy for starting over again, we're excited to have a baby around again. The kids are both over the moon. It's already been fun to watch them, and it'll be nice to have extra helpers in the house.  My due date is actually Dec 24th, of all days, so we'll be having a Christmas baby.

I haven't been feeling well for the last 7 weeks or so, and I'm very ready to have the first trimester behind me in a couple of weeks. Being my 3rd, I'm already staring to need different clothes.  I'm not sure that is bodes well for how large I'm going to get.

We covet your prayers as we go through the pregnancy and the introduction of a new family dynamic.

Upward Soccer 2012

Katherine didn't play in Upward Soccer this year, but Joey did, and he was awesome. He's very aggressive and loves the game. He was very sad when it finished up for the year. His friend, Jesse, got to play also. It was great to see the both of them out on the field.

Wichita River Festival Sundown Parade

We've never actually been to the Sundown Parade before but we got the opportunity to be a part of it this year.  We joined with the DetermiNation team that is running the New York City Marathon this year and raising funds for the American Cancer Society.

"Nicki" is covered in names of people impacted by breast cancer.  Joey got to sign a helmet.  All of the equipment in the truck is pink - very cool.

LLS Fun

We got to spend an evening at Botanica with a group of LLS honored patients.

Memorial Day

We normally would have gone to the lake for the long weekend, but Joey wasn't up to it, so we stayed home with him and let Katherine go with Grandma.  We tried to make the weekend fun for him, but he wasn't really interested in doing much.  All 6 of the Star Wars movies have been on TV, so I recorded them on the DVR and we watched 3 of them. We also took him to see Avengers, which he loved.  He just wasn't feeling well.  He also have back pain that came and went, so he would watch the movies with ice on his back.

We even took him to a pool party, but he was only in the water for a few minutes and then he just sat and watched.

He didn't feel well for about a week, but then perked back up and is doing much better now.

Hard Treatment Week

Joey had his hard week, this week.  Since Katherine is out of school, she wanted to go with us and watch his spinal tap (we've never taken her for that before).

He also had his port accessed for and was given Vincristine.  (Nurse) Kim let Katherine draw his blood from his port and do all of the pushes.  So, Katherine actually gave Joey his chemo this time.  How many 9-yr-olds can say that??

Busy Spring

Katherine got a small acting part in her school music program.  She got to slam the clipboard down on the floor in anger - she really got into it.

Joey had 2 golf tournaments as part of the Man/Woman of the Year, so his grandpa bought him is own clubs.  As it turns out, he loves golf.  He spent some time practicing at the range.
Katherine liked it too, although she had to use his right-handed clubs.

I got to go to field day at school.  Joey won his sack race - it was pretty funny.

 Katherine ran the 200M dash

Katherine did great at her piano recital again this year.

We had an amazing night at the Grand Finale for the Man/Woman of the Year. To see all the pictures, go to Joey's Facebook page here: http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.292650624138160.64793.105577416178816&type=3
We're a little sad that it's over, but I'm not sure how long we could have kept up that pace.  The candidates raised over $240,000 for LLS in just 10 weeks.  We were very privileged to be a part of it all.
